A whole lotta fur

So, this is my first blog and my first post so bear with me as I learn the ways of blogging.  I wanted to make one blog about my fur babies.  I have 4 dogs and 1 cat.  My dogs, from oldest to youngest, are Jack, Dempsey, Gizmo and Chiclet.
Jack is a 9 year old Papillon x Pomeranian.  He was given to me out of the back of a pickup truck at a local gas station.  Hubby and I were returning from a belated honeymoon when we stopped at a gas station close to home and I had noticed this little puppy in the back of a pickup truck.  He just stole my heart and I told my husband that i wanted him.  He then asked the guy that was driving the truck about the puppy.  He asked if we wanted the puppy and I said "YES".  He said we could have him!  I was so excited.  Jack was about 6 months old at that time.  On our way home from picking up my daughter, Jack got car sick.  I never saw or smelled anything so awful.  It looked as though Jack was being fed some sort of skin, chicken maybe.  It was so nasty and all over the floor board and back seat of the car.  It was a good thing we took him.  I don't think he was very well taken care of.  He's a very good dog.  He was so easy to housebreak and crate train.  I wished I had taken more pictures of him when he was a puppy because he was so cute.  He is getting old now and is quite a cranky dog.  He doesn't like. little kids.  He tends to want to nip at their feet, especially if they are running.  He has developed this odd fear of grass.  When he goes outside to do his business, he tries so hard to avoid the grass.  He'll even poo on the street during walks.  If the grass is wet he really doesn't like it.
Dempsey is the next oldest.  He is a 3 year old brindle Boxer.  Boxers are my favorite breed of all time.  He is my 4th Boxer.  My first one was a white female named Gypsy that I co-owned with an old boyfriend.  She was an awesome dog.  I had 2 other females after that, Jasmine and Blaze.  I lost Jasmine through a very sad series of events that I wish hadn't happened.  I bought Blaze a few years later.  I had her for a couple of years and she contracted distemper and had to be put down.  I had never had a male before Dempsey and I believe that the males are easier to train.  He does have occasions where he will not get outside in time and he will "zig-zag" on the carpet but this is mostly the human's fault for not noticing the subtle signs that he has to go out.  My 25 year old son has adopted Dempsey as his own and when he moves out he will more than likely take Dempsey with him.  Once that happens, I will have 4 dogs left.  That brings me to the next one...Abby.
Abby is the newest addition but she is almost 3 years old.  My husband had been wanting a German Shepherd but I knew that we couldn't have a full sized pure bred GSD due to my housing situation.  I was browsing Craigslist one day and found Abby.  She is supposed to be a pure GSD but is very small at only 45 pounds.  If she is a cross I have no idea what she is crossed with because she has the typical markings of the GSD as well as the big ol' bat ears.  She is the best natured dog I have ever seen.  She would make a great therapy dog.  We might look into that.
Chiclet is a 2 year old female Chihuahua.
